Grandma’s Garden

Twinkle lights surround Grandma’s garden
Where fairies hide under peace poles
And Dr. Suess’ Truffula trees grow.
Jasmine and orange perfume the air
While water flows, pot to pot inviting
Birds, bees, butterflies to come; partake.
Deep red are the strawberries across from
Brilliant white bursting buds while
Dark purple sage and lavender stand tall.
Watermelons, smaller than my hand, grow,
While I sip lemonade and rest
In the grownup chairs warmed by the sun.
A world flag flies in grandma’s garden.
It's a reminder she says, that God
Separated water from earth, not people from people.
May Peace Prevail on Earth
Sings the peace pole from all sides.
While grandma creates for me, an oasis in the chaos.
